Michael du Toit
Michael du Toit, born in 1962, is an apple and pear farmer in the Elgin Valley, where he has been farming for the past 40 years. A third-generation farmer, he began his career in agriculture after completing his national service in January 1984.
Driven by a strong commitment to nature and the importance of balancing conservation with commercial farming, Michael became actively involved with the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve Company, serving from 2016 to 2025. His dedication to sustainable development in the region also led him to become a founding director of the Grabouw Development Agency (GDA), established in 2020 to promote economic diversification and long-term sustainability in the area.
